The Seattle Climate Action Plan, adopted in June 2013, focuses on city actions that reduce greenhouse emissions and also support vibrant neighborhoods, economic prosperity, and social equity. Actions are focused on areas of greatest need and impact: road transportation, building energy and waste.

A key leader, and an organization that Seattle Foundation supports through its strategy, is Front and Centered , a statewide coalition of more than 60 organizations led by people of color tackling environmental and climate disparities.
